Entertainer of the Year
This category is open to all soloists of an advanced, semi-professional or
professional status. There is no age or gender restriction on the participants.
A 10 minute maximum time limit is set for both the preliminary and final dances.
All dances will be timed. 15 points will be subtracted for going over the
maximum limit. Your entire dance must be performed on the stage.
Music for your dance will be Belly Dance style music and be the only music on a
CD or tape. Please print your name and category on the CD or tape.
CDs are preferred but you may use tapes. If you are using a tape,
have it cued and ready to go.
You are not required to have two separate dances
and costumes for the preliminary and final rounds, but it has become customary.
Props may be used, but no extra points will be given for their use. Zills are not required.
The entry fee for this category is $40.00. Entries are limited to 20 in this category.

Rising Star
This category is open to dancers of an intermediate level who have been dancing for four years or less.
If you are ready to dance in a contest you are no longer a beginner.
Since this is an intermediate level you cannot have earned money dancing.
This does not mean tips or meals or monies won at competitions other than Wiggles of the West.
If you are hired directly or through your Troupe/Studio and perform solo (without the rest of the Troupe) you have earned money performing and must now move on to the Entertainer category.
We must rely on your honesty in the matter of earned money.
There is no age or gender restriction on the participants.
An 8 minute maximum time limit is set for your dance.
All dances will be timed.
15 points will be subtracted from your score for going over the time limit.

This category is limited to dancers 45 years or older.
There is no gender restriction.
Nor any dance ability restriction.

Alternative Wiggles
Open to Solo dancers of all levels who wish to compete using non-belly dance music. You can mix other dance forms with Belly dance, but at least half of the movements/steps must be Belly dance.
The performance can be serious or comedic as you wish. Costuming and presentation should create a theme projected by the music. Dance should be 8 minutes or less.
Music for your dance will be the only music on a
CD or tape. Please print your name and category on the CD or tape.
CDs are preferred but you may use tapes. If you are using a tape,
have it cued and ready to go.

Ensemble of the Year
This category is open to groups of three or more dancers.
There is no age, gender, or dance ability restrictions for this category.
The dance is to be fully choreographed with all members dancing.
The exception being a non-dancing member who may collect or distribute props to the troupe, but they will enter and exit, not remain on the stage unless they are dancing.
Normal breaks between dances are perfectly acceptable.
Instruments may be played for troupe members, but the musicians must also be dancers.
No solos can be permitted in this category.
Dancers should appear equal in skill.
Your dance must be performed on the stage, exception is a troupe of more than twelve members.
A 12 minute maximum time limit for the dance has been set.
All dances will be timed.
15 points will be taken off the score for going over the time limit.
Music for your dance will be Belly Dance style music and be the only music on a
CD or tape. Please print your name and category on the CD or tape.
CDs are preferred but you may use tapes. If you are using a tape,
have it cued and ready to go.
